I have been testing various antivirus programs on my lab computers and have published antivirus ratings on this forum. Based on those ratings, here are our chosen top ten antivirus out of 25 antivirus programs we tested. I'm completely blown away with the results! I'm truly impressed with some of the not-so-popular antivirus software that performed beyond my expectation. Based on my lab tests and results, I'm writing this “top 10 antivirus” review which will help you understand which antivirus software can better protect your computer from virus, spyware and malicious software over the internet.
Top Ten Antivirus
We have reviewed all of the antivirus programs and have included reviews of the best antivirus and security software. We have included only those antivirus software in this list that performed exceptionally well on our lab computers. We tested 25 antivirus programs but here's the list of the best 10 antivirus with detailed reviews and download options:

BitDefender antivirus has scored the best in comparison to all other antivirus programs available. The software imposes the least impact on system resources. You will hardly feel any difference in the computer performance after installing BitDefender. In our lab tests, the software detected all of the infections and removed them successfully. Preventon antivirus performed excellent in our lab tests. It performed way better in comparison to many well-known antivirus programs available out there. The software is very light-weight and uses the least system resources. Some antivirus programs leave a heavy impact on the computer system (for eg., McAfee, Norton, ESET, etc). However, Preventon performed exceptionally well. The software also performed great when it came to detecting and removing infections found on our lab computer. That’s why it earns the #2 rank in our top ten antivirus list.
3) Total Defense Antivirus
Most of us know that Total Defense Security was previously known as the CA (ComputerAssociates) Security earlier. After acquiring the antivirus/security software, Total Defense constantly worked on the software to improve its performance. When we tested the old CA Security and the new Total Defense security on our lab computer, we were amazed with the results! Here are the Total Defense Security Suite ratings based on our lab tests:

Total Defense out-performed many other antivirus and security programs in our lab tests. CA Security had lost its reputation, however, Total Defense worked hard to make the software robust. In our lab tests, we found that the software is light on system resources and does not impact the system performance. The scanning engines are equipped with the latest technology to provide efficient real-time detection and removal of virus and malicious codes. The firewall within the security suite is amazingly good and blocks all the unwanted intruders to your computer. The price of the software is average but looking at the tools you get for protecting your computer, its the best deal in comparison to other antivirus/security software. The software earned the #3 spot in our top ten antivirus review.
4) Auslogics Antivirus
Auslogics antivirus, a popular product of the Auslogics Software Pty Ltd. Performed wonderfully on our lab computers. Their software outperformed some of the most known antivirus programs like ESET, McAfee, Trend Micro and more. The antivirus software is equipped with a technology that protects your computer from old and new viruses. It allows you to shop, bank and browse safely and warns you of any potential threats before you download them on your computer. Here’s the score that Auslogics Antivirus earned in our lab tests:

Auslogics antivirus is among the lowest priced antivirus software. Their contributions are commendable in the computer security world. We passed their antivirus software through our lab tests and found the latest version much better than the earlier versions. Although Norton Antivirus did not perform that well in comparison to some of the antivirus programs but still it is much better than many. The performance was a little above average but I really loved the tools that are included with the antivirus software. With each of the Norton software, you get free technical, email, chat and phone support. You also get the Norton Rescue Tools that can help you fix even severely infected computers. Norton earned #7 rank in our top ten antivirus publication.
8) Coranti Antivirus
Coranti Inc. introduced the concept of Multi-Engine antivirus software. The software uses FOUR high performance scanning engines. It uses the popular BitDefender scanning engine alongwith F-Prot antivirus, Lavasoft antivirus and Lavasoft antispyware. All of these together make Coranti a robust and effective security software. Here’s the score that Coranti achieved in our lab tests:

Coranti performed excellent on our lab computers. It is one of the most effective antivirus programs because it is equipped with 3 antivirus engines (Bitdefender, F-Prot and Lavasoft) and 1 antispyware (Lavasoft). With Coranti protection your computer will definitely be more secure. However, the downside of having Coranti is that it impacts the system performance. We felt that the computer became a little slow after installing the software. Also, the internet browsing became a little slow. Apart from the system performance issue, it performed great at detecting and removing infections. Coranti took the #8 spot in our top ten antivirus research.
9) K7 Computing Antivirus
Another great antivirus software is the K7 antivirus, a product of the popular K7 Computing Pvt. Ltd. K7 is very well known antivirus and security software for home and business computers. The software performed very good in comparison to many other antivirus programs. K7’s detection was the best among other antivirus software we have tested so far. Although the speed is an issue but overall, the software performed excellent. Here’s the K7 antivirus rankings based on our lab tests:

K7 antivirus performed really well in the lab tests and looks very promising. The software provides excellent security to a computer. The software imposes some load on the system resources which is a concern. Another concern is the price. The antivirus software for 1 PC – 1 Year subscription costs more than $45. Whereas, there are other antivirus programs that have performed better but are cheaper in price. If the price of the software were lower, it could have ranked better. K7 antivirus takes the #9 spot in our top ten antivirus rankings.
10) ESET Antivirus
ESET antivirus is one of the most popular antivirus software after BitDefender, Norton, McAfee and more. Their antivirus software has won many awards. The 2012 version was one of the most effective antivirus software. Here is how the latest ESET version performed on our lab computers:

ESET antivirus performed a little different from its previous versions. The software was very effective in detecting and removing infections from the computer. We had several virus, spyware, Trojans and worms on our lab computer and ESET effectively removed most of the infections. However, the only CON was that the software imposed comparatively higher impact on the system resources. Nevertheless, it is an excellent software to protect your computer from all sorts of infections. ESET antivirus earned the #10 spot in our top ten antivirus ranks.
